Babak Taghikhani

Babak Taghikhani was born in 1975 in Tehran and started piano lessons at the age of 14 with acclaimed piano tutor Lili Sarkisian. With a MA in architecture and as a multi-award winner in architectural competitions in his first years of university, he was an active participant in piano master classes (Classic and Romantic era) held in Austrian-Iranian Cultural Institute with Ernest Hutzel and Gerhard Geretschlaeger.
Since 2000 he has collaborated as composer and pianist with a number of well known  Iranian musicians and singers. Babak's passionate piano alongside with his intuition in compositions which ranges from classical to world music, makes his songs a rare rendition of Iranian traditional and folk music.
Babak founded a band with Solmaz  Peymaei in 2006 as a couple and duo. They have performed in festivals such as Italy Popoli festival 2011 and Teatro Colosseo 2012 and had numerous concerts in Iran.
After immigrating to Canada in October 2012 they had concerts in different events such as ICC year-end  gathering, Tirgan Yalda and Iranian Heritage Day in Royal Ontario Museum
