Shahriyar Jamshidi

Shahriyar Jamshidi was born in 1971 in the city of Kermanshah. He is a Kurdish-Iranian Kamanche player and composer. He has trained under the supervision of many well-known musicians and professors including Mahmood Merati, Mojtaba Mirzadeh, Ardeshir Kamkar, Ahmad Pejman, Kamal Pourtorab, Kambiz Roshanravan, Houshang Kamkar. He holds a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts from Tehran University. He has performed with Bahman Rajabi and Alireza Javaheri in Chakad Ensemble. In 2003 , he pioneered the Dilan music group (Derived from the name of Kurdish Composer Ghader Dilan). The group has held several concerts in Tehran. The most recent ones were held at Roodaki and Mahak Concert halls. He has performed on several well-known TV channels including KTV, Norooz and Kurdsat and is a composer dedicated to preserve the forgotten music of Kurdistan.
Shahriyar’s works include Alvanati (2004), Call of the mountain (2008). He is currently working on a new album which will be released later this year. He has recently moved to Toronto and performed at many prestigious events including KSA Folk Night at the University Of Toronto.
