Her childhood passion for dolls, puppets, and stage led Vida to set out on a remarkable journey of bringing puppets to life on live stage as well as the screen. An award-winning puppeteer and puppet builder, Vida Ghahremani trained in puppetry, puppet design and construction at The Centre of Dramatic Arts in Tehran. She also participated in an Acting program at the School of Arts and Literature and launched her artistic career in 1985. Since 1987 she has written, directed, designed, and produced puppet shows for puppet theatres, TV programs, movies, and International festivals for children and adults.
She was a regular performer on Iran’s National TV where she designed stages and puppets for numerous shows. In 1996, Vida won the Best Director’s prize at the video section of the International Children Film Festival in Iran. Since she came to Canada, Vida has been producing and directing puppet shows in Toronto where her most charming puppet, Mobarak, has won the hearts of people of all ages over and over again.
