Nazy Sakhavarz

Nazy Sakhavarz is a Toronto based artist who has been painting and showing her work in the city for over a decade. Her paintings, often characterized by large-scale depictions of individuals in various states of contemplation, are housed in numerous public and private collections. In addition to showing at artist run collectives such as Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts, she has also been represented by private galleries such as Edward Day, Drabinsky, and presently Westmount Gallery.
Sakhavarz is also a great proponent of arts education. Since graduating from Queen’s University as a painting major in 1995, she has actively taught adults and children a multitude of courses from life drawing and portrait painting to cartooning and illustration. She is currently the head of visual arts at Earl Haig Secondary School-Claude Watson Arts Program, where she enjoys imparting her passion for drawing and painting to her many students.
